Here's the thing: Sometimes things just don't deserve their own topic/thread. And sometimes we just need a general talk thread to really get things running. So that's what this thread is for. Discuss the Abridging world/universe/dimension. Anything goes here, as long as it doesn't have its own specific thread.

I, for one, didn't care for that Gundam 00 Abridged.
It was too mean spirited. Not to mention that it wasn't associated with LK or TFS.
How am I supposed to masturbate to it if LK isn't involved?

Alright guys, this thread is for DISCUSSION. I know you're glad you've got some more fun-room than most forums, but we DO still need to be vaguely on-point.

No more posts that don't somewhat add to discussion.

An interesting proposal. However, I've been playing too much Ace Attorney, so my mind is in the mode where I point out contradictions.

I say they are "unfunny", yet you want me to post the details... There's nothing detailed about being unfunny. They just... lack the ability to be amusing. Not much to it, really.

How do you guys feel about explaining the joke? I don't watch many other series, but I know with PTAS, I'm always a little disappointed when I see a joke become "dumbed down". Such as with the black eye on Horsea and the arrow pointing to it, or the blurb about "can't we just get beyond thunderdome" (promoting more people to think THEY'RE clever in getting the obvious reference, but never thanking MST3K for it). Or "redundancy is hiliarious". All of these times, I've felt a little shame, WGS. Why do ya gots to do it?

And now for some news.

The cast of Transformers Abridged are planning to head to Sakuracon. While merely a con video, much bigger improvement in terms of editing from the first episode as well as humour. If they could transfer what was shown here to the series, then we'll be all sound as a pound. Also, how can you say no to Prime and Starscream saying they are sad pandas? Short answer: You can't.

But the fact though that "It's a Gundam!" jokes are more prevalent than the more blatantly necessary GoBots reference perturbs me for some reason.

Er, actually, DrSmoov was involved early in the production of it, and has approved it along with other Prime, jon3.0.

Well, it depends on the audience.

Which depends on the style you used when building up your audience. So, if you've always been "dumbing down" jokes, then you should probably keep it that way.

But if you weren't, then you should keep it that way.

If you're talking about in general, then I personally would say somewhere in the middle. If you make a very obscure joke that 99% of your audience will never get, it'll be AMAZINGLY HILARIOUS for that 1%. But if you're looking to entertain more people, obscure jokes are not the way to go.

Hm. I couldn't tell. I just listened to the first bit of stuff before closing it. Their voice mods were not Smoov, and that was enough evidence to me. Not to mention that I didn't find anything fun. But, as WGS pointed out, Smoov's material is legend.

On THAT note, WGS... You say that they're going to update within a year. Well... That's not how legends are born, son.

My case in point is one of the most famous people on the internet. And, how could he not be, as the owner of thebestpageintheuniverse.net? That's right, I'm talking about Maddox. Maddox has said to people many times before that you need to SELF EDIT. If you produce 1 GOOD article (show, episode, whatever) in a year, that's infinitely better than having 13 OK/Bad article (show, episode, whatever) in one year. These TFA guys don't seem that funny; however, it is quite unfair, as I am, without a doubt, comparing them to Smoov's stuff subconsciously. Nonetheless, a quality target deserves quality material; of which this lacks.
