Since there seems to be a decent group of people on the forums that like fighting games, I was wondering what your thoughts on the new Blazblue were?

I myself am a bit confused about what Aksys is doing with this new game. One of the problems that was big with the last game was that adding Haku-men and u-13 with out play testing them caused a bit of a problem when it came to balancing the game. So to no surprise, I was happy to see that they were going to play test the two new characters for this game. This would mean that the characters would all, hopefully, be balanced. My joy was at an all time high, that was, until I saw this.

Now, this bothered me because of this one fact, that when they added characters with out play testing them before, character balance was all SCREWED up. However, I wasn't too bothered, because if it turns out to be a big problem, people might ban her from play. So I was worried, but okay. Then I feast my eyes on this ROPESMAN! today.

The DOUBLE-CAPITAL-FUNK, Aksys?! If you want new characters, just say so. We don't give a shirt about the surprise. Just give us a decent fighting game. Now, who knows if these new characters will even be tournament legal. I just expected a little better from the people who created Guilty Gear..........actually, I take that back. I don't expect shirt from Aksys.

Also, here's a cool new video for the game. I'm hype.

Having done that, I doubt these characters will be allowed in tournament play, so they won't affect balance.

Kliff and Justice were banned as they were not on the arcade version, and I seriously doubt the anime fighter crowd will drop this convention.

Also, you must be new to aksys games. HnK, Sengoku Basara-X, Battle Phantasia, Isuka, Last Blade.

Terrible games by Arc. I'm not sure why you expect them to make good games when their track record is fairly poor.

Generally, this is how tournaments of fighting games go...

If they're not on the Arcade cabinet, they're not tournament legal.

So, go ahead, let Arc System Works do whatever the hell to the console version. So long as the arcade cabinet remains "balanced", you'll be fine.

Think about it in Guilty Gear AC+. There are 25 characters there. Oh, wait, we also have the EX versions... shoot, should we include Gold... crap... And the Extra menu?!?!

The extra stuff there in GGAC is just for the lulz. But no one will ever seriously use them in big tournaments (which is all fighting game fans care about, apparently).

There was no reason to lock this topic...

Anyway, I'm hoping the screw up of not play testing doesn't make TOO much trouble. Likely will, but regardless, I still really enjoy Calamity Trigger, so I'm sure I'll have a blast with Continuum Shift.

I don't remember Hakumen being all that bad. Sure, Nu was a whore, but when our circle of friends didn't play with her, the game was hella fun, and I stand by that.

I would have enjoyed XX, too, if you guys had kept playing it once I got back. But it was pretty much like, "Oh, Nu's kind of broken, let's stop having fun." And I was all, "Dammit, guys, I just bought a copy of this... oh, well, I'll keep playing."

I won't buy Sharp Reload until I know you losers will keep playing it. And even then I won't, because I'll get tourneyfagged for being a high-tier character.

Are you going to learn Venom, too? You know, finish off what you're starting? :D Better get Guile and Kirby down, too.

Only problem is Lichi's actually good now. By that rule, you're no longer allowed to play with her.

Not my fault that they broke my character.

P.S.--Venom wins SBO every year. Yes. Venom. C-tier FTW!

Think about it this way.

Venom is worse than 30% of the cast and better than 8% of the cast and even with 62%.

Moving up one tier changes these numbers significantly. He would be better than 65% of the cast, worse than 13%, and even with 22%.

C-tier makes him sound lol bad, when hes really lol, with everyone else IN THE MIX.

Ah yes WGS. Now I see why this thread is different from the fighting game thread. This thread is about GGXXAC.

The Shoutbox thread is basically reserved for us. There's no rule for it of course, but it's pretty much just us discussing what we're doing fighting game-wise. Threads like this seem much more open to discussion for the general public.

That, and we probably won't ever really talk about BlazBlue, as evident in this thread.

This thread is clearly about #Reload--didn't it just come out? Or at least, shouldn't it have? I'm not paying attention for obvious reasons (not that I'm in russia, but because bb sux and I don't have an xbox and no one will play it in a month/now).

It will be soon. I think three or four weeks. It's being released around the end of July, I think.

Been, playing as Hazama. He's pretty fun. The game's still got some dumb quirks about it but...eh. It's cool.

Is the game balanced at all?

I'll take up BB if anyone wants to play.

That doesn't matter anymore, we're top tier!

Oh lord. Anyways. Still messing with Tager. His new combo stuff is hillarious, and the mix up options he gets off of Gadget finger are hilarious.

Ragna seems really good.

Litchi is REALLY good. She also seems to have changed the least out of the cast from what I could tell, so anyone who played her in the first game should feel right at home.

So far, I'm thinking Rachael or Noel seems to be the worst, but I really haven't played a lot of everyone yet.

Galileo (Tager) & tenchi (Hakumen) lost at two qualifiers.

Galileo is now entering as a Litchi player.

Huh... So Litchi became top tier... without changing? What, did everyone get mega-nerfed?

Also, this one is directed to James mostly because he's the biggest tourney-mean-guy I know. What kind of level of "top tier" do you think Litchi and Bang are? The kind where it's MvC "play as them or lose forever" or the Guilty Gear, "I guess they're top tier, but, hell, it really only matters when you're the best, and even then it doesn't REALLY matter."

P.S.--I need to stop being in Russia whenever the new BlazBlue comes out, because I have a feeling that everyone will have played it and have gotten bored with it by the time I get back.

Again.
