We made something new. I don't know why WGS put a K in there.

Yeah, Sorta is the best answer. Really, we play Guilty Gear, while someone reads Dragonlance to us.

i think i would enjoy this game but i have noone that would play it with me,
Roooster apparently plays it so you will have to correct me if im wrong.
but what apeals to me is infinite possibilitys,
like you encounter a goblin, i blind him with my shirt and mail him to justin beiber.
and i like the idea of one guy in there who reads , is basically a god.

is there an online dungeons and dragon game, becuase i would like to get in to this

I laughed too hard at this.

Anyway, yeah, "sorta" is the best answer. Dark Bomber and I play regularly with Farmer Zez. ModernTenshi04, Undisputed King of the Forums plays with a different group, while Xerostyle and Horrse have played plenty in the past, but currently don't do as such. MasterWGS and LordMoonstone, though, I can not vouch for--I don't know how much they've played, if any at all.

As for if you want to get into D&D...

http://ww2.wizards.com/StoreAndEventLocator/

This can get you to stores and such that play. The whole point of the game (to me) is the fact that an impartial referee*, the DM, runs it, instead of a computer. A DM is allowed to make judgement calls on the rules, whereas a computer, well, can't. If you wanted to "play online", well, you're kind of missing the point, and might as well play a better online RPG than the Dungeons and Dragons stuff.

*The "impartial referee" is the ACTUAL point of the DM, but, they can all to often turn into "player killers" or all sorts of other things

It's generally reduced to "DnD", much like GnR.

Anyway, I mean, it's possible, but, really, here's all you "need" to play Dungeons and Dragons.

  • Friends
  • Rulebooks/access to them
  • Paper
  • A map if you're playing 4.0 (just 1 x 1 inch squares, or, if you don't use the random Standard system of measurement, I'm sure 2 x 2 cm squares could work, practically the same thing). Other versions can utilize a map, but 4.0 practically demands it.
  • Figurines/something to represent you on said map
  • Someone to know/learn the rules and act as DM.

Really, the whole idea is to get together with friends and have fun. Rules are really more of guidelines anyhow.

I play UNO with my friends but hey, whatever floats your boat. I just have to short an attention span for figurenes and paper.
And rules. :D

Oh, yeah, short attention spans are practically a requirement, in that no one ever really pays attention (that's one of the jokes commonly displayed in Dadtucs, actually). It's ADVISED you pay attention to the rules so that people don't have to keep reminding you, but, over time, you get used to the whole thing. You'll know which dice to roll when and why, how to attack something, how to bargain with your DM on whether or not you can fill a bag of holding with concrete for quick "petrification spells", et cetera.

Even though we have other D&D threads, I feel like making another post in this to talk to you, headshot, specifically.

One of my main draws to the game is the actual "role-playing" aspect of it. You make a character, and you act as that character. Flesh out the character. Give him/her life. In the campaign I'm playing with Farmer Zez and the Barnyard Bunch feat. Dark Bomber, I play a thief who is a high-ranking member in a thieves guild dedicated to Robin Hood-esque tactics of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. It's much more detailed than that, but it's the basics. The reason WHY he's a leader is... because I wrote him that way. I created him to be a high-ranking member in this group. I created the whole group, how they function, how they do missions, how they get paid, et cetera. The DM merely deemed it OK. So I get to have all of these options--at a price; since I made my character a leader in a guild, he has guild responsibilities he must attend to, and these may interfere with main party goals. The guild now plays as a pretty important role in the affairs of our campaign now, to the point where Dark Bomber's character despises it, other people wish to climb its ranks, while others merely use it as another safehouse.

That's just one scenario. You could make your character in a game, on the outside, be a normal mercenary, but, on the inside, a man seeking enough fame and nobility to properly marry a love. Or he could just be a straight up killer who gets off on smiting wrongdoers. He could be a ninja who just needs a job. You're not really limited too much. The whole point is that it's up to you. If it's within reason to the Dungeon Master (DM, sorry I've been using this without writing it), you can do it.

Well I'll try just about anything once. Problem being, all my friends are either farmers or black ops-aholics. And the only one person I know who plays it is $3000 deep into warhammer. I'll see what I can do though, cuz it sounds really fun judging by the video and what you have said.

Well, to some people, it's worth the money you put in.

The main problem you'll have is this: It's absolutely free for players. The DM, however, generally has to spend a lot of money on books, dice, et cetera. Of course, thieves can get them through torrenting the PDFs of all the latest books, thus saving them hundreds on books that get out of date quickly due to erratas and buffs. But I'm totally telling you to NOT do this.

defiantly one of the best abridged things i have watched. I laughed a lot.

also i think D&D would be fun if someone like joel was the dungeon master. Your campaigns would be lols.

This was easily the most hilarious thing I've seen today. If you do another session, it would be awesome if you recorded it.

Yell at Rude. He needs to get lines in.

Or, yell at WGS. He has the recording equipment and sees Rude often enough. I've already done my part.

Why is BoD so popular on Reddit lately? I think it's a sign that you should make more, eh?

Also, I find it funny that they think that the guy who linked it made it.

I got a chuckle out of it to say the least. Apparently this video has been posted on reddit 3 times so far. Its never taken off and fully hit front page, but its still humorous to say the least that it keeps getting posted and I believe not by us.
